The story tells that the inventor realized that she had run out of a fundamental ingredient for the preparation of Chocolate Chip Cookies, the Baker’s chocolate (a type of very bitter and melt-in-your-mouth chocolate, usable only in cooking). He replaced it with a semisweet chocolate bar, cut into small pieces. Taking the biscuits out of the oven, he noticed that the pieces of chocolate had not melted, but were all intact and clearly visible inside the biscuits.
